Abstract

New minimally invasive techniques have been developed for cardiac abnormalities.
We report a successful case of combining transcatheter edge-to-edge repair and convergent procedures to treat a 63-year-old woman who presented with functional mitral regurgitation, persistent atrial fibrillation, and tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy with an ejection fraction of 35%.
This case showcases the combined use of 2 relatively new, minimally invasive procedures. As experience with these procedures grows, they can be used for more unusual or extreme presentations.
Combined minimally invasive therapies can successfully treat complex cardiac conditions such as tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy with functional mitral regurgitation, potentially avoiding open-heart surgery.
