Abstract

To introduce a minimally invasive technique using a non-fixed length incision to create natural-looking, stable double eyelid folds.
Preoperative assessment of eyelid characteristics was conducted, and a short incision of suitable length was made to remove a portion of the orbicularis oculi muscle. In some patients, partial removal of orbital septal fat (OSF) or orbital septum release may be performed concurrently as needed. The skin was then fixed to the pretarsal fascia and tarsus.
A total of 60 cases were reviewed in this study. Follow-up ranged from 6 to 55 months, during which no serious complications occurred. Except for 1 patient who experienced the disappearance of the double eyelid 50 months postoperatively, all others achieved satisfactory results. The overall satisfaction rate reached 98.3%.
By conducting accurate preoperative assessments and employing incisions of appropriate length, this technique provides excellent clinical outcomes and deserves wider adoption.
