Abstract

We report the iminopentafluorosulfanylmethylation of styrenes using the oxime ester of 2-(pentafluoro-λ6-sulfanyl)acetic acid as a novel source of the CH2SF5 unit. Upon irradiation in the presence of thioxanthone, this reagent undergoes photoactivation through an energy-transfer mechanism, enabling efficient difunctionalization of styrenes. The synthetic utility of the resulting SF5-containing imines is further demonstrated through a series of downstream transformations.
