Abstract

During the 2nd interregional CIPOMO conference (April 2026), Sicilian and Calabrian oncologists discussed healthcare issues, focusing on clinicians' needs and digital transition. A survey revealed that while physicians recognize the potential of AI and digital tools to improve clinical safety and continuity of care, major structural and organizational weaknesses persist. Indeed, 68.4% feel their departments cannot integrate digital tools without increasing workloads. Respondents demand less bureaucracy, better hospital-territory continuity, and strategic recognition. Crucially, 100% agree that doctors must retain final decision-making responsibility. Ultimately, addressing system fragility and burnout is essential before successful digital integration can occur.
