Abstract

Chronic rhinitis is defined by one or more symptoms of nasal congestion, anterior and/or posterior nasal drainage, and sneezing. Chronic rhinitis is a common reason for adolescent and adult patients to seek medical care as the symptoms can become pronounced and when uncontrolled, negatively impact the quality of life and productivity of those affected. A thorough clinical history of rhinitis symptoms will help distinguish between the 2 major phenotypes of rhinitis, nonallergic and allergic rhinitis. The clinical history and symptoms are also important to consider when deciding the best treatment recommendations for patients who present with chronic rhinitis.
