Abstract
Clinical Staphylococcus aureus populations from rural and mountainous regions remain underrepresented in molecular surveillance. We characterized spa types and methicillin resistance among 107 clinical S. aureus isolates collected at H. G. General Hospital, northern Vietnam, in 2023 (n=47) and 2026 (n=60). Isolates were confirmed by nucA-targeted PCR and assessed for mecA, followed by spa typing. Type t034 predominated in both periods, accounting for 27.7% and 31.7% of isolates, respectively. Overall, t034 accounted for 29.9% (32/107), with 96.9% (31/32) being MRSA. These findings highlight t034 as a notable component of the local clinical S. aureus population.
