Abstract
Child protection provides for the removal of a child from his or her family when the child's basic needs are not being met. Out-of-home placement in a nursery is intended for children under the age of 3 who are exposed to situations of danger, neglect, or abuse. This separation can lead to psychological, relational, and physical repercussions requiring supportive and structured multidisciplinary care. However, the placement is not intended to exclude the parents but rather to maintain and support the family bond in accordance with the terms set by the judge. The caregiver plays a central role as a supporting third party, assisting with parenting and the child's development by providing a safe and structured environment where boundaries help establish a sense of security and comfort for the child.
