Abstract

Evaluate test-retest reliability, internal consistency, and construct validity of the Norwegian version of the Pediatric Family Needs Questionnaire (FNQ-P).
Test-retest reliability, internal consistency, and construct validity. Subject/patients: Parents/caregivers of children (6-17 years) with ABI in the chronic phase who participated in the Child in Context Intervention (CICI) study.
Internal consistency was assessed with Cronbach's alpha, while test-retest reliability was explored with intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC), t-tests, and coefficients of variation. Standard error of measurement and minimal detectable change were also assessed. Construct validity in relation to Matrices and Similarities from WISC-V, Health and Behavior Inventory (HBI), Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function-2 (BRIEF-2), Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL), Tool to Measure Parenting Self-Efficacy (TOPSE), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), and Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-7(GAD-7) was explored with correlation coefficients.
Test-retest reliability of the total mean FNQ-P score was good (ICC = 0.84). Internal consistency was excellent with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.98. Construct validity was confirmed. The only significant correlations were weak correlations with parent anxiety (GAD-7) and child's emotional functioning (PedsQL).
The Norwegian FNQ-P has good psychometric properties and can be used to obtain reliable and valid data regarding family needs.
