Abstract

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a newly defined condition linked to cardiometabolic risk. Its association with psoriasis remains unclear.
To evaluate the association between MASLD and psoriasis risk in young adults in Korea.
A retrospective cohort study was conducted using data from 6,400,590 adults aged 20-39 years in the Korean National Health Insurance Service. Participants were classified into seven study-defined, mutually exclusive SLD groups, and incident psoriasis was identified by International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, 10th Revision codes. Cox proportional hazards models estimated hazard ratios (HRs).
During a median follow-up of 9.1 years, 170,921 individuals developed psoriasis. MASLD was significantly associated with increased psoriasis risk (adjusted HR, 1.13). Risk estimates varied across the study-defined groups.
MASLD and related study-defined groups were associated with psoriasis risk in young adults.
