Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the spatiotemporal distribution of confirmed cases of canine visceral leishmaniasis in Uruguaiana, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, from 2009 to 2019. Scan statistics were used on SaTScan program to detect spatiotemporal case clusters. The database was composed of records from spontaneous demand investigations and serological surveys, totaling 3,339 investigated dogs, of which 1,478 were classified as seroreagents for canine visceral leishmaniasis. This study found five spatiotemporal clusters over the analyzed period in the census tracts of the municipality with high relative risk than other areas. The findings show the heterogeneity of transmission in the urban territory and reinforce the usefulness of spatiotemporal analysis to support territorialized surveillance and control actions.
