Abstract

To describe the management of oral self-injury in an older patient with neurological impairment using a digitally fabricated mouthguard.
Oral self-injury may be challenging in patients with neurological conditions.
An acrylic resin mouthguard was fabricated from intraoral scans for an 82-year-old bedridden woman. Photobiomodulation and oral hygiene measures were also used.
The lesion healed, and recurrent trauma was prevented.
Intraoral scanning enabled comfortable fabrication of the oral device.
