Abstract
A 14-year-old female patient presented to the Department of Ophthalmology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiangnan University with a 3-year history of blurred vision while wearing single-vision spectacles for bilateral myopia. The patient demonstrated satisfactory corrected visual acuity, rapid myopia progression, no manifest strabismus, and well-preserved fusional function and stereopsis; therefore, orthokeratology was administered. Grade 2 central corneal staining developed at one month. Lens parameters were adjusted to optimize the fitting: the power of the alignment curve was reduced by 0.25 D, the toricity was increased, the sagittal depth of the reverse curve was raised by 20 μm, and the peripheral curve was upgraded by one step. Following these adjustments, the corneal staining resolved completely, and the uncorrected visual acuity improved to 1.0. After eight months of lens wear, the axial length regressed by 0.18 to 0.27 mm.
