Abstract

The World Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases (WSPID) was contemplated in the early 1990s by leaders of the European Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID), Sociedad Latinoamericana de Infectiologia Pediatrica (SLIPE) and Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS). It was formally registered in the USA in 1994. A history of the first 30 years of the organisation is conveyed.
