Abstract

Evolocumab is a monoclonal antibody targeting PCSK9 that provides rapid and sustained LDL-cholesterol reduction. Following FOURIER, which demon-strated a reduction in cardiovascular events in patients with established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, VESALIUS-CV extends this benefit to high- or very-high-risk patients without previous myocardial infarction or stroke. These findings support earlier, intensive and sustained LDL-cholesterol lowering. This review summarizes the main evidence supporting evolocumab across the cardiovascular risk continuum.
