Abstract

Cave environments harbor microorganisms adapted to extreme conditions. Prokaryotic diversity was assessed using 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing across four caves in the Guánica State Forest. The resulting data set characterizes phylum-level community composition within an understudied subtropical dry-forest cave system and provides baseline information for future microbial and ecological investigations.
