Abstract

The radical-mediated 1,2-boron shift strategy has emerged as a promising and powerful approach for the construction of functionalized organoboron compounds. This review summarizes and categorizes the relevant studies based on the distinct mechanisms underlying the generation of β-boryl radicals, such as radical addition, oxidative cleavage, decarboxylation reactions, or hydrogen atom transfer (HAT). Furthermore, the reaction scopes, synthetic utilities, and underlying mechanistic pathways are thoroughly examined to provide a comprehensive overview of this evolving strategy.
