Abstract
Africa bears a disproportionate burden of epidemic threats, exemplified by COVID-19. Drawing on lessons from the pandemic, we describe how Institut Pasteur de Côte d'Ivoire transitioned from limited capacity to established expertise in genomic surveillance. This institutional strengthening provides a strategic blueprint for enhancing Africa's resilience against emerging health threats.
