Abstract

Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is closely associated with prematurity. Maternal conditions may increase offspring cardiac risk. However, antenatal hematological evidence remains limited.
Among 68,945 singleton live births, 945 were diagnosed with PDA. After false discovery rate correction, trimester-specific indicators, particularly prothrombin time and thrombin time, were found to be associated with PDA risk. The patterns differed by preterm birth, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, gestational diabetes mellitus, and conception mode.
Routine maternal hematological indicators may provide preliminary evidence for further investigation of perinatal risk markers and may help identify pregnancies and newborns who may benefit from closer cardiovascular surveillance.
