Abstract

Mycoplasma genitalium antimicrobial resistance is common in US sexual health clinics. Population-level prevalence is unknown. We tested National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2017-2018) specimens for M genitalium resistance mutations (n = 58). Macrolide resistance prevalence was 42.7% (95% CI, 24.4%-62.7%). Quinolone resistance was not detected. Macrolide resistance testing should guide azithromycin treatment.
