One hundred and eighty-five nurses from different hospitals participated in the study and completed the study's questionnaires including Nurses' Occupational Stress Scale (NOSS), Nursing workplace incivility (NIS) and Quality of nursing care (QONC).ResultsThe results showed that patients'/visitors' incivility (M = 41.11, SD = 7.03) was the major type of incivility in workplace among critical nurses. Critical care nurses reported high levels of job-related stress (M = 64.17, SD = 6.74). The results showed that insufficient support from coworkers was the highest among many of the participants (M = 9.45, SD = 1.51). The results from the current study show that nurses' responsibility for decision-making and delegation was highest among the participants (M = 20.11, SD = 3.27) in contrast to nursing care organization being the lowest (M = 7.14, SD = 1.13). A positive relationship between job-related stress and quality of nursing care (r = 0.551, p = 0.001, respectively) and a negative relationship between workplace incivility and quality of nursing care (r = -0.625, p = .002) were found.Conclusionsthese results might help administrators develop strategies and educational programs to improve the quality of nursing care in hospitals.
