Abstract

We synthesize convergent experimental evidence from five independent research groups (2016-2025) addressing the longstanding "too warm, too wet" objection to quantum biology. Three recent experiments (2024-2025) demonstrate: (i) Wang et al. measured enhanced dielectric response and proton conductivity in nanoconfined water at 295 K, establishing extreme in-plane Coulomb screening at 1-2 nm; (ii) Rodríguez-Rubio et al. synthesized porphyrin nanobelts demonstrating room-temperature ring currents in 80-120 π-electron networks; (iii) Babcock et al. measured optical signatures consistent with ultraviolet superradiance from tryptophan networks in microtubules, with assembled microtubules showing enhanced fluorescence quantum yields relative to free tryptophan and tubulin dimers. Together with (iv) Reiter et al., who measured quantum-coherent proton motion in nanoconfined water via Compton scattering at 300 K, and (v) Larson et al., who demonstrated that microtubule structural integrity is functionally essential for computational coordination in unicellular Euplotes, these studies support a mechanistic chain from nanoconfinement through an aromatic quantum substrate and cooperative optical behavior to functional dependence. We argue this convergence justifies direct experimental measurement of decoherence times in microtubules as a necessary first step before addressing any functional role. We outline falsifiable predictions including dielectric mapping and anesthetic perturbation assays, and discuss implications for frameworks such as Orchestrated Objective Reduction. A direct link to consciousness is unproven; nonetheless, the data are consistent with quantum-coherent aromatic networks in biological scaffolds and motivate targeted falsification experiments.
