Abstract

Ovarian cancer (OVCA) is one of the most common gynecological tumor and is the eighth most common cause of cancer death in women. Sex comb on midleg-like 1 (SCML1) plays an important role in the regulation of embryonic development, but its role in OVCA has not been detected. SCML1 was identified to be associated with cisplatin resistance in OVCA. The expression of SCML1 in OVCA tissues was verified by testing clinical samples. The effect of SCML1 on the proliferation and drug resistance of OVCA cells was investigated in vivo and in vitro. The expression of SCML1 is significantly lower in OVCA cisplatin-resistant tissues. After SCML1 knockdown, the proliferation ability and cisplatin resistance of OVCA cells were significantly enhanced. The overexpression of SCML1 can inhibit the expression of E2F transcription factor 1 (E2F1) and promote the expression of O-linked N-acetylglucosamine transferase (OGT).
