Abstract
Early detection of lung cancer biomarkers through sensitive electrochemical sensing is highly important for non-invasive clinical diagnostics. Lead-free double perovskite Cs2PdBr6 microcrystals were synthesized using a chemical precipitation method and deposited onto fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) electrodes to fabricate a dual-mode electrochemical/photoelectrochemical sensor for ethyl acetate (EA) detection (a potential lung cancer biomarker). The Cs2PdBr6-modified electrode exhibited sensitive EA detection under dark and photoradiation conditions over a linear concentration range of 1.0-1000.0 nM. The sensor achieved a sensitivity of 0.315 mA cm-2 nM-1 under dark conditions and 0.373 mA cm-2 nM-1 under illumination. The corresponding detection limits were 0.045 nM and 0.038 nM, respectively, at a low bias voltage of -0.2 V. The device also demonstrated rapid response and recovery characteristics with a response time of 2 s under photoradiation. Furthermore, the sensing platform showed reliable EA detection in simulated urine samples, indicating its potential applicability in complex physiological environments. Machine learning-assisted analysis was additionally employed for accurate discrimination and quantitative prediction of EA concentrations. The obtained results demonstrate that Cs2PdBr6 is a promising lead-free perovskite platform for stable and high-performance dual-mode EA sensing applications.
