Abstract
Conventional resonator-loss measurement methods face significant challenges in characterizing high-speed scanned, low-loss optical cavities, limiting their application in cavity alignment and optimization of high-performance ring laser gyroscopes (RLGs). A physics-guided multibranch hybrid algorithm-assisted Resonance Method is proposed for rapid and accurate loss measurement in optical resonators, while maintaining high consistency. For a ring cavity with a reference loss of 150.5 ppm, the deviation of the frequency-averaged prediction from the reference value remains below 2 ppm over modulation frequencies from 5 to 20 Hz, with an overall mean absolute error (MAE) of 3.29 ppm over all held-out test traces, and the MAE remains below 6.4 ppm even at modulation frequencies entirely excluded from fine-tuning. By analyzing the transmitted resonance signal during laser frequency scanning, the proposed algorithm enables real-time observation of the resonance response with a single-trace inference latency of 6.2 ms and accurate retrieval of cavity loss without fitting the resonant signal. This approach provides an efficient and practical solution for resonator-loss measurement and cavity alignment in high-performance RLGs, showing great potential for applications requiring rapid, high-precision optical resonator characterization.
