Abstract
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as crucial regulators of gene expression in cancer, where they can function as either oncogenes or tumor suppressors by modulating molecular pathways controlling cell proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, and metastasis. Among these, miR-92b has garnered increasing attention due to its context‑dependent roles across different malignancies. Depending on the tumor type, miR-92b exhibits dual functionality as an oncogene or tumor suppressor. Clinically, aberrant expression of miR-92b has been correlated with patient prognosis, chemo resistance, and metastatic potential, positioning it as a promising non-invasive biomarker for early diagnosis, staging, and therapeutic response monitoring. Furthermore, preclinical strategies aimed at restoring or inhibiting miR-92b have demonstrated potential for targeted intervention, though challenges remain in achieving cell-specific delivery and avoiding off-target effects. This review consolidates current evidence on the mechanistic, diagnostic, and therapeutic facets of miR-92b, underscoring its relevance as a multifaceted player in cancer biology and a candidate for future clinical translation.
