Iodine tincture as substitute for fruit ripening experiment

General question Created on 12 Oct 2014

Details

Hi, I am doing a home experiment about fruit ripening with my son (from http://chemistry.about.com/od/chemistryexperiments/ss/ethyleneexp.htm) and am wondering if I can substitute the iodine and potassium iodide with a tincture I have already. It contains Iodine 25mg/ml, ethanol, potassium iodide 25mg/ml. If I can use it, how should I dilute it? Many thanks!!
